Why is the zebra our mascot?
Doctors are sometimes taught, "When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses, not zebras." The term "zebra" has become slang for an unusual medical diagnosis when a common explanation is more likely. Today, carcinoid cancer and neuroendocrine tumors are considered rare and thought of as zebras.
